About our Cedar Rapids masonry company

How I came to this work
I spent years as a carpenter framing houses before I turned to masonry. I learned this trade beside an experienced mason until I could run jobs on my own, and in 2023 I started this business here in Cedar Rapids. Today we're a small crew best known for careful mortar work on older brick homes, done so the repair suits the wall it's in.
Most people call us about worn joints, a tired chimney or a wall they want built right the first time. What I care about most is that the work holds up long after we've gone, and that comes down to the parts you don't see, like the flashing, the drainage and the base under a wall. Our county sits in the watersheds of both the Cedar and the Wapsipinicon rivers, so water is usually the first thing I look for. You'll find everything we do as a masonry contractor in Cedar Rapids on our home page, and thank you for taking the time to read about us.

What you can expect when you work with us
The same person from estimate to finish
I come out to see every job myself and write the estimate, and then I work alongside the same small crew that does the work. That way the person who quoted your job is the one making sure it's done right.
We find the cause before we repair
Worn joints and loose brick usually have a reason behind them, often a gutter, a missing piece of flashing or ground sloping toward the house. We look at how your whole house handles water first, so the repair isn't undone by the same problem a few years on.
Only the repairs your home needs
We fix what actually needs it and tell you plainly when something can wait. If a few cracks are fine for now, I'll say so, and you won't be paying for work your home doesn't need.
We check with your city or county first
Before each job we contact your city or county office to learn what they require. Then we tell you what we found and who will take care of it, so you know where things stand before we begin.
Licensing and insurance
Iowa contractor registration
Iowa requires construction contractors, both individuals and businesses, to register with the state's Department of Inspections, Appeals, and Licensing once they earn at least $2,000 a year from construction. It's a fair thing to ask any mason you're thinking of hiring.
Licensed and insured
Licensed and insured. Our insurance is there to protect your property while our crew is working at your house, and you're welcome to ask about it when I come out for the estimate.
